History of Rex - David and Victoria Beckham's world cup party

Article
There was a glittering array of celebs at Posh and Becks' pre-World Cup bash at their Hertfordshire mansion last night (21 May).

The England captain David Beckham and his pop star wife Victoria threw a £500,000 `Full Length and Fabulous Ball' as a send-off for the England team - and invited 300 sport and showbusiness stars to join in the fun.

Among the guests at `Beckingham Palace' included rap mogul Sean `P Diddy' Combs, acting veteran Joan Collins and Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, who was joined by daughter Beatrice.

Belle of the ball Victoria looked stunning in a floor-length lime green Roberto Cavalli gown, that was sexily slashed to the thigh, while hubbie David was formally dressed in black tie.

Many members of the England team were there with Wayne Rooney and girlfriend Coleen

Mcloughlin among the first to arrive.

Coleen looked the height of sophistication wearing a stunning diamond necklace on loan from jewellers Boodles, worth £125,000.

Beckham was also joined by team mates Michael Owen, Joe Cole, Steven Gerard, Jamie Carragher, Jermaine Defoe, Frank Lampard, Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand.

Other guests included supermodel Elle Mcpherson, the Osbournes, Baby Spice Emma Bunton, designer Julien Macdonald, Jemma and Jodie Kidd, F1 driver Jenson Button, Jade Jagger, Brazilian football ace Ronaldo, Vivienne Westwood, Patsy Kensit, British singer Will Young, Michael Flatley, designer Roberto Cavellia, Prince Nickolas, Valentino Garavani, Conservative leader David Cameron, and Sol and Heather Kerzner.

Entertainment for the event included top acts Robbie Williams and Godfather of Soul, James Brown. A special menu was created by top international chef Gordon Ramsey.

The night also saw an auction hosted by camp TV presenter Graham Norton for a £1m necklace donated by Asprey and a limited edition Bentley, with proceeds going to UNICEF.

The couple had set up a marquee in the grounds of `Beckingham Palace' that was actually larger than their mansion.

They also had trees flown in from Spain to create the right atmosphere for the 500 guests at the Spanish-themed bash. There was also a fly-by by the Blades formation flying team.
